Stress, anxiety and depression are the biggest cause of sickness absence in our society. Mental ill health is responsible for 91 million working days lost every year.
We have been working with Mental Health First Aid England to provide mental health courses which will help raise awareness of mental illness, enabling people to support themselves and others to aid recovery. The courses aim to reduce stigma through education and increase understanding, alongside providing relevant signposting support.
Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year. Healthy people are happier, more engaged and more productive. Employers across the UK are acting now to support the wellbeing of their people and create mentally healthy businesses.
We have provided a brief overview of the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses however, we would be more than happy the best option for you or your workplace: contact us
Our two day course qualifies successful delegates as a Mental Health First Aider and is accredited by Mental Health First Aid England. Mental Health First Aiders share an in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing.
Delegates on this course learn the practical skills required to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues. It is suitable for those who want to gain the necessary skills to have a non-judgmental conversation, recognise the signs and symptoms of common workplace mental health issues and effectively guide a person towards the right support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix. This is achieved through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions; each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan. Everyone who completes the course gets an MHFA manual to keep and refer to whenever they need it, and a certificate from Mental Health First Aid England to say they are a Mental Health First Aider. Delegates will also get a copy of the Line Managers' Resource, an invaluable source of advice on how to support an employee experiencing mental ill health.
This course is suitable for those wishing to take a proactive approach to dealing with mental health issues in the workplace, to complement the role of a Mental Health First Aider/s in larger organisations or, in smaller workplaces successful delegates may be the only trained support. This is a Mental Health First Aid England accredited course.
