North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) is encouraging workplaces to #BePrepared and make sure they refresh their first aid skills.

The most recent figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) shows that in the North East  there were 3,492 injuries at work in 2014/15 and nationally 27.3 million working days were lost due to work-related illness and workplace injuries.

The specialist skills team at NEAS is urging employers to ensure they continue to update the skills required within their organisation to deal with any incidents - and that they are complying with UK safety regulations.

All employers in the UK have a legal obligation to have First Aid provision for their employees. A First Aid at Work  course enables you to qualify as a First Aider for the workplace and meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It must be updated every three years. Find out more about our First Aid at Work Refresher courses here

At North East Ambulance Service, we answer around 1.1 million calls for assistance every year - including workplace incidents so we know firsthand the importance of having the training and skills needed to deal with these incidents. In some instances every second can count.

We provide a range of first aid and health and safety training to support organisations in the public, private and third sector across the North East. This not only give us the opportunities to share our skills and experience but ensures businesses are prepared and meeting government requirements.

The specialist skills team at NEAS provides paramedic-led first aid training and other related training to organisations across the North East. Money generated is reinvested into NEAS for patients.
