Alan has worked at North East Ambulance Service for over 20 years. He develops and delivers a range of training for customers as part of the specialist skills team. He is also involved with research and development of materials required for new and existing courses. 

Proir to joining the specialist skills team Alan was employed by North East Ambulance Service to work in the GP out of hours schemes as a driver/assistant for the doctors, which included providing transport for the patients utilising the Patient Transport Service.

Working with GPs provided him with the opportunity to deal and assist in the primary and urgent care of patients. This included meningitis, mental health support, diabetic emergencies, stroke, epileptic seizures, asthma, drug and alcohol overdose, child illness such as measles, mumps and rubella and CPR and defibrillation.  

Transporting patients also enabled him to gain hands on moving and handling experience.

Andy has been a trainer with NEAS for six years with a background in manufacturing and industry. He has also run medical operations in Afghanistan as part of his TA duties. He has a Certificate in Education and Health and Safety qualifications and is leading on the expansion of courses into Teesside.

Mark has worked at North East Ambulance Service for over 25 years, joining the specialist skills team after an extensive career as a paramedic.

Mark delivers a range of courses including basic lifesaving, dental emergencies and falls response training. He also delivers our Immediate Emergency Care (IEC) programme, which equips fire and rescue personnel, non-operational managers and community responders with a high level of medical skills meaning they can medically assist a patient until paramedics arrive.

Philip Brewis

Phil has worked for North East Ambulance Service for almost 30 years. A qualified paramedic, Phil delivers a range of training courses across the region and throughout the UK.

He is our lead trainer for our Immediate Emergency Care (IEC) programme, which equips learners with a higher level of medical skill meaning they can medically assist a patient until paramedics arrive and the continue to assist the paramedic. He has delivered this training the fire services, police, the Ministry of Defence and nuclear plants across the country.

In addition to this he also delivers training in a range of areas including basic lifesaving, automated external defibrillators and anaphylaxis.
