We work with a number of manufacturers across the region, delivering first aid and health and safety training courses.

Our Specialist Skills Team delivers First Aid at Work, and First Aid at Work Requalification courses to staff at factories and laboratories, to ensure they have the skills required should an incident occur. The First Aid at Work training covers a wide range of first aid emergencies and enables candidates to qualify as a First Aider in the workplace. It provides practical experience and includes scenarios and role play to build knowledge and confidence. We also deliver a number of bespoke courses including covering themes such as manual handling and hazards (hydrofluoric acid).

We've provided first aid training for Aesica, a leading pharmaceutical company with manufacturing facilities and offices in Cramlington, for over 10 years. We’ve delivered a range of courses for Aesica including First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work Requalification and the Annual Skills Update.

Elaine Lowthorpe, Training Officer at Aesica, commented:

“We have been working with NEAS for over a decade and we are very happy with the training provided. NEAS offers a good service, courses are easy to book and flexible, which is incredibly important to us, particularly as many of our employees work shifts. We get excellent feedback from our employees on the courses that they attend - and the trainers are fantastic.

We currently have around 28 first aiders in total as our company is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We ensure that there are always at least two first aiders on site.

The nature of the roles within our organisation vary immensely, as do the potential risks. We have employees who work at heights, use tools and equipment, there are chemicals onsite and we have people working in a manufacturing environment.

Therefore the skills that our employees, and in particular first aiders, require are quite broad - from cuts and grazes to supporting incidents that may involve chemicals and toxic gases.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, as well as any visitors we have onsite, is our main priority. We have excellent safety processes in place and thankfully we have very few incidents. However to ensure this continues we work closely with NEAS to provide our first aiders with the skills and knowledge required to deal with potential illness or certain incidents on site.”

We appreciate the pressures and constraints faced by those working in manufacturing and try our best to accommodate, ie delivering bespoke training on-site, providing guidance in terms of compliance and, by offering competitive pricing.
