Our Ofqual accredited Paediatric First Aid courses meet:
- the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework
- Ofsted requirements for registered childminders, pre-school staff, nursery nurses
- the requirements for nannies under the Approved Carers Scheme.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also take into account the number of children, staff and layout of the premises and increase their paediatric first aid provision accordingly to ensure that a paediatric first aider is available to respond to emergencies quickly.
Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (two day)
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid qualification provides learners with the first aid skills they require to enter into the children’s workforce. The aim is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to paediatric first aid.
This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to children (including babies) when dealing with, an emergency situation, a chronic or sudden paediatric illness or paediatric injury.
The content of the course will cover:
- dealing with accidents
- unconscious and breathing baby and child
- unconscious and not breathing baby and child
- choking baby and child
- shock
- first aid kits and hygiene techniques
- bleeding and wounds
- burns and scalds
- objects in eyes, ears and nose
- recording, reporting and administering medication
- extremes of hot and cold
- sickness and fever
- meningitis
- broken bones
- head neck and back injuries
- swallowed something harmful

Emergence Paediatric First Aid - Level 3 Award (one day)
The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid provides learners with the knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations. This one day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those who have an interest in child and infant Basic Life Support, including parents, guardians and family members. This one day course can serve well as a refresher for the successful holders of the Paediatric First Aid - Level 3 Award in between renewals.
Our qualifications fulfils Ofsted’s first aid requirements for early years teachers, nursery workers and child minders (as defined within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 and within The Child Care Register guide).
